Identification and Tracking of Finished Metal Products

The identification of finished metals poses several challenges. Many products are subjected to pickling, annealing, and prolonged outdoor storage. When using common paper or plastic labels, there are several common situtations where a manufacturer is at risk of losing a product's tracking information:

• labels can tear off during transportation and handling
• many labels cannot survive pickling and annealing operations, requiring that the label be removed during these processes

Metal tags provide an ideal solution, performing better than paper or plastic labels in difficult environments. Just one metal tag can identify the product throughout all these typical processes. There is no need to remove and reapply or reprint labels. Tags can be attached to hot bands, to coils and bundles, or directly to the product on bundle or coil ends.
