Attaching Methods
Tag attaching methods vary depending
on many factors such as the condition of the product
to which the tags are being attached, cycle time (time
available to attach each tag), and the cost of the system.
Here are some popular tag attaching methods.
 |
Nailing
Nailing works best on hot metal products, and
this is the most common method of attaching tags
to semi-finished products: slabs, blooms, and
billets. |
 |
Welding
MIG or TIG welding systems are a good option
for attaching tags to hot or cold products. Tags
must be provided with at least one bare edge for
the welding material to adhere properly. |
 |
Stud Welding
Stud welding provides strong,
reliable fastening of tags for bundle ends and
other applications. A variety of stud shapes and
sizes are available for attaching tags to many
steel products.

Tag Clips & Wire
Tag clips or wire offer an easy means of attaching
tags to the strapping around bundles of long products.
Tag clips offer the advantage of being pre-formed,
making them easy to use and very durable. |
 |
Slotted Tags
Tags with slots instead of holes can be threaded
onto the strapping used to secure bundles. |
